A vortex is described as a powerful circular current tending to form a cavity or vacuum in the center of the circle which draws in objects. This is the manner in which your chakras operate. Each chakra rotates or vibrates at a different speed and funnels in energy to different parts of your body, revitalizing it. Each charka is represented by a wavelength of light along the color spectrum and a different sound to represent each chakra's harmonic vibration. The three lower chakras (the root, belly and solar plexus chakras) correlate to basic primary needs - those of survival, procreation, and will - and have a larger physiological component to their functioning. The four higher chakras are more related to our psychological makeup: the heart, throat, and third eye chakras are more advanced and more mature, defining love, communication, and knowledge; the crown chakra is purely spiritual, providing the connection to the universe beyond.
